The Freedom Group owns some of the most recognized firearm related companies in the industry. At the Fall 2016 Big 3 East Media event they brought out some of their latest offerings for the gun writers, bloggers and videographers to check out. While they brought out the revised R51 and RM380 pistols, their new 1911 R1 10mm Hunter long slide was of definite interest.
The 10mm Hunter has 6” match grade barrel under the long slide. The slide has front and rear slide serrations and fully adjustable match sights. It sits on a railed steel frame for any pistol light or targeting LASER you so wish to attach. The beaver tail grip safety is extended and the skeletonized trigger is fully adjustable. For grips Remington has gone with Operator II VZ G10 Grips. G10 grips are ideal for when you may have wet hands, they stay grippy. The whole gun is coated in a PVD DLC finish which makes for an extremely robust coating that will hold up to regular use in extreme conditions.
The Remington rep, Ken Nickerson, brought out Bushmaster’s latest AR. It is called the Bushmaster Minimalist. It is basically a tricked out Bushmaster ORC rifle. It sports an MFT Minimalist stock and grip. They added a free float AAC Square Drop handguard and flash hider. The AAC flash hider has the QD threads for their AAC suppressors for their Blastout muzzle device.
The rifle comes with an ALG Advanced Combat trigger. The pull of the ACT is very similar to a standard mil-spec trigger, however it is sharper and the grittiness of the stock trigger pull has been removed while the traditional reliability of a stock trigger remains. The pull weight is not lower than the M4/M16 minimum weight specification of 5.5lbs.
The Bushmaster Minimalist is available in 5.56 or .300 AAC. It has an MSRP of $1169.00
