UM Tactical has been making their mark in the firearm industry with their RAGE TCS compensator. The RAGE TCS is a muzzle brake with interchangeable port washers that allow the user to change the direction of the gas exiting the muzzle. You can tune the RAGE TCS to your own style of shooting rather than compromise with what a standard muzzle brake is designed to do.
At the recent Big 3 East Media Event, Brian of UM Tactical showcased his latest projects. UM Tactical will now be offering AR-15 barrels that are ported for the RAGE TCS. So instead of adding a RAGE TCS to the end of a muzzle, the RAGE TCS will be a part of the barrel. More importantly by having the barrel ported, this eliminates the need to time and rock set the RAGE like on a traditional threaded barrel. There is less movement between the RAGE and barrel which gives about 10% increase in performance.
Brian also showed us his latest prototype, an integrally suppressed 9mm carbine. This project is so new, the prototype hasn’t even had a chance to be hard anodized. The new integrally suppressed carbine may be offered as a barrel kit, complete upper or complete firearm. UM Tactical is still ironing out those details. I did get a chance to test fire it and it is extremely quiet. Brian was not ready to divulge the secret behind this integrally suppressed 9mm carbine however I suspect it may be similar to the H&K MP5SD and the Spike’s Tactical Brown Recluse. Both of those use a ported barrel that vents the gases of super sonic rounds thus dropping their velocity down to sub sonic speeds and are very quiet.
